SRINAGAR: A minor boy was killed in a leopard attack on Friday in the Mawer area of North Kashmir’s Handwara in Kupwara district.
An official said that a four-year-old boy, identified as Mohammad Hasnain, son of Nissar Ahmad Teli, of Shirhama, Handwara, was attacked and whisked away by a leopard. “The boy was playing with his friends when the incident took place,” the official said.
“A rescue operation was launched to trace the minor, and after an hour of searches, the boy was found and taken to a nearby health facility,” the official stated, adding, “The boy was later shifted to GMC Handwara, where he succumbed to his injuries.”
The incident has caused widespread anguish among locals, who claim this fresh attack is part of a spate of similar incidents witnessed in the area over the past few months. (JKNS)
