A 10 year’s old boy was killed when a Leopard attacked him at Lalpora area of Kupwara District last evening, a police statement said.

“A Leopard attacked a 10 year old boy Ashif Lohar son of Mohammad Ayoub resident of Deewar, Kakerpati, Lalpora. The boy died in the attack. The body of deceased boy was handed over to his relatives for last rites,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the statement said that two persons died while two others were injured in separate road accidents across the valley.

“An unknown vehicle hit and injured a pedestrian Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Pahloo son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Sadder Court Payeen near JVC Hospital, Srinagar. The injured succumbed to his injuries while on way to SKIMS Soura Srinagar,” the statement added.

It further said that a motorcycle bearing registration number JK07-0902 meet with an accident near Iqbal Bridge Kargil resulting in on spot death of motorcyclist Mohammad Hussain son of Mohammad Hassan resident of Tumail Colony, Kargil and injuries to pillion Feroz Ahmad son of Mohammad Ibrahim resident of Gargardo. The injured was shifted to District Hospital, Kargil for treatment.

In another accident, the statement said that a Sumo bearing registration number JK05D/1286 hit and injured a cyclist Mohammad Ramzan Wagay son of Ghulam Ahmed resident of Zainakote HMT near T.K College Lawaypora. The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment.

The police statement further said that a male body was recovered in Srinagar from river Jehlum here last evening.

“Shergari police recovered a male body from river Jehlum near Goni Khan. The deceased was later identified as Mohammad Ashraf Bhat son of Abdul Rehman resident of Wazir Bagh Srinagar.” Police has started investigation under section 174 CrPC to ascertain the cause of his death. After conducting all medico-legal formalities Shergari Police handed over the body of deceased to his relative for last rites.
