Just a day before it mauled a seven-year-old boy, the same leopard again mauled to death another minor boy at Kreeri area of Pattan in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district Saturday morning.

Reports reaching local news agency GNS said that a class 2nd student Adil Hamid Sheikh, 07, son of Abdul Hameed Shiekh of Hail, Harushnar in Kreeri was killed by man eater leopard while he was strolling outside his home.

According to the locals, the leopard pounced on Adil when he was few yards away from his home. “The victims’ cries grabbed the attention of the passerby who after reaching on the spot found him in a pool of blood,” the local said adding the grievously wounded was shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

A pall of gloom descended upon the village when Kamran’s body reached home.

Later the villagers staged protest against wildlife authorities for failing to prevent entry of wild animals in residential areas.

The residents of the area told Kashmir Glory that this is the second attack in the area. Yesterday, a seven-year-old Yasir Khan Son of Manzoor Ahmed Khan of Harushnar Kreeri was killed by the same leopard.

The locals complain that the wild animals had created a reign of terror in the area with attacks on humans becoming order of the day. “The wild animals are also on prowl at Kreeri, Daulatpora and its adjoining areas wherein the people fear to venture of their homes during the dusk,” they said.
