Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK) commemorated January 30, 2017 as ‘Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign.’  The programme is going to be a fortnight programme which started today and end on February 13 2017.

As per an official statement, DHSK has informed that the thrust of this campaign is to promote community participation to reorient the delivery of the services of diagnosis and treatment of leprosy in early stages.

The awareness programmes will be observed at state, district block and village level. “On this occasion rallies pertained to Leprosy Awareness were taken out and door-to- door leprosy survey has been started  which will conclude on 13th Feb 2017. With the onset of this campaign, the leprosy awareness is being spread through various IEC platforms<‘ reads the statement.

Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Saleem ur Rehman launched this campaign at divisional level while as at the district level the event was launched by district development commissioners along with respective district health officers wherein the district development commissioners read out the message of Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign and it was pledged that there will be no discrimination with the persons affected with leprosy. MPHWS, ASHAS, Health workers took part at the District Level Campaign launch along with active cooperation from Village heads.
