A militant was killed while an SOG man suffered injuries in an encounter in Hajin area of Bandipora district on Thursday morning, police, according to reports said.
“Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the Parry Mohalla locality of Hajin after specific inputs about the presence of militants,” reports quoting officials said.
He said that militants opened fire at the forces, triggering an encounter.
A militant, identified as Abu Musaib, was killed in the operation while another militant managed to escape, said the official.
He said that Musaib was the operational commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba in Bandipora district.
An SOG man, identified as Vikas Sharma was injured in the shootout. He has been hit by a bullet on left side below chest.
