Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani has felicitated people on the auspicious eve of Eid ul Fitr and appealed to celebrate festival with simplicity and avoid firecrackers.

In a statement they prayed that may this Eid bring real happiness and joy for us and “be our last Eid while in India’s slavery.” Geelani in his appeal asked people to offer special prayers for martyrs and reaffirm their faith with ongoing freedom movement and while reiterating his call stressed people to hold peaceful demonstrations against ‘state terrorism’ after Eid prayers.

Geelani said the suppressed nations can never enjoy the glory of Eid as compared to free nations. “We are celebrating the Eid among those 30 thousand widows and 50 thousand orphans whose family heads were killed during ongoing freedom struggle. We also share their sorrow’s and feel pain for those families who’s near and dear one’s after they were arrested are either  missing or are  detained,” he said.

Geelani in his Eid message urged people to help and provide financial assistance to victims, widows, orphans and elderly persons and reiterated his appeal for establishing the Bait-ul-Mal committees in each locality. While laying stress for the methods to be needed for self-sufficiency in every field, Geelani said, “Keeping in view the changing circumstances and freedom movement we ought to strive to create and generate resources locally.”
