SRINAGAR

Police was effectively deployed around the Nigheen Mansion of Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and he was advised not to make an effort to move out. The cleric was supposed to lead prayers at Eidgah.

“Since Mirwaiz Sahab is under house arrest, the prayers would now be led by Imam e Hai,” Shahid ul Islam told Kashmir Life. “Time of the prayers has not been changed, it is still the 10 am.”

Most of the separatist leaders have been kept under house arrest since Thursday evening. JKLF stated late last night that police have been deployed around Yasin Malik’s Maisuma residence to prevent him from attending Eid prayers.

Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani had called for peaceful post prayers protests. Fearing tensions, police kept most of the separatist leaders under house arrest.
