SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday extended Eid-ul-Adha greetings to the people, praying for peace, prosperity and harmony across Jammu and Kashmir.
In his message, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha conveyed his heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people, describing Eid-ul-Adha as a festival symbolising sacrifice, unity and brotherhood.
He said the sacred occasion serves as a reminder for humanity to embrace the eternal values of love, compassion and forgiveness, and expressed hope that the festival would usher in joy, peace and prosperity in everyone’s life.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and beyond, stating that Eid-ul-Adha symbolises sacrifice, compassion, generosity and obedience to the will of Almighty Allah.
Recalling the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (Peace be upon him) and the unwavering obedience of Hazrat Ismail (Peace be upon him), the Chief Minister said the occasion teaches the values of faith, devotion, patience and submission to the command of Allah.
He said their exemplary legacy continues to inspire people to uphold righteousness, selflessness and compassion in their lives.
Omar Abdullah expressed hope that the festival would strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, communal harmony and mutual respect among people. He also urged people to remember the underprivileged and share the joy of the occasion with those in need.
Meanwhile, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, in her message on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha, extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the Muslim Ummah across the world.
Expressing concern over the hardships faced by people due to unemployment, economic distress and growing uncertainty, Mehbooba said festivals should serve as moments of healing and collective hope.
She urged the administration to ensure uninterrupted electricity, water supply and availability of essential services during Eid so that people can observe the occasion with dignity.
The PDP President also appealed to people to remember families affected by violence, imprisonment and tragedy in their prayers, and to extend support to those facing difficulties.
Praying for lasting peace and prosperity, Mehbooba Mufti expressed hope that the festival would usher in reconciliation, harmony and compassion across the region.
