SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday extended greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, which will be observed on October 2.
In his message, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 157th birth anniversary and highlighted the ideals of truth, non-violence, self-reliance, Swadeshi, Swachhata and Sarvodaya.
The Lieutenant Governor said Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless ideals continue to guide humanity and inspire people to work towards peace, prosperity and the country’s continued growth.
He called upon the people to pay tribute to Gandhi by reaffirming their commitment to his principles and working collectively towards building a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir and a developed India.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also extended his greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
The Chief Minister said Gandhi’s enduring message of truth, non-violence, peace and communal harmony continues to inspire generations and remains relevant in the contemporary world.
“Gandhi Ji showed the world the strength of truth, non-violence and compassion. His life and ideals continue to inspire us to work for peace, harmony, equality and human dignity,” the Chief Minister said.
Omar Abdullah said Gandhi’s vision of India was rooted in unity, tolerance and respect for all, adding that his teachings continue to offer guidance for building a peaceful and inclusive society.
The Chief Minister called upon people to draw inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s life and reaffirm their commitment to the values of peace, harmony and social solidarity.
