SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor has deputed senior IAS and IPS officers to Chasoti, District Kishtwar, to oversee relief and rescue operations in the aftermath of the devastating cloudburst that has claimed dozens of lives and left many missing.
According to a government order, the officers will supervise operations on a roster basis from August 19 to August 26.
On August 19 and 20, Chandraker Bharti (IAS), Principal Secretary Home Department, and Uttam Chand (IPS), IGP Police Operations and Services, will be stationed in Chasoti.
The order reads that on August 21 and 22, duties will be handled by Anil Kumar Singh (IAS), Principal Secretary PWD (R and B), and Sujit Kumar (IPS), IGP Security, J and K.
On August 23 and 24, Shaleen Kabra (IAS), Financial Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Jal Shakti Department, along with M Suleman Choudhary (IPS), IGP Traffic, J and K, will oversee the operations, it reads.
The final roster on August 25 and 26 includes Shahid Iqbal Choudhary (IAS), Secretary Science and Technology Department, and Vivek Gupta (IPS), IGP Railways, Jammu and Kashmir.
The deputation of senior officers has been ordered by the Lieutenant Governor to ensure effective monitoring of rescue and relief measures and to provide coordinated support to the district administration. (KNC)
