SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has sanctioned Rs 30 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as financial assistance to the next of kin of the victims of the Badhaal tragedy, which claimed 17 lives in December 2024.
The incident, which occurred in the Badhaal village of Rajouri district, resulted in the deaths of 17 individuals, including 13 children, and triggered widespread grief across Jammu and Kashmir. The financial aid aims to support the bereaved families as they attempt to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of the devastating loss.
According to the official release, the assistance was approved to offer immediate relief to the affected households and reaffirm the Government’s commitment to providing help during times of distress.
Welcoming the announcement, Budhal MLA Javed Iqbal Choudhary expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister. “Your compassionate support in this hour of grief has brought relief to the affected families and is deeply appreciated,” he stated.
The financial assistance is expected to bring some solace to the grieving families and marks a significant gesture of solidarity by the Government with communities facing tragedy.
