SRINAGAR: In a significant move the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, has reached out Raj Bhawan in Srinagar proposing the construction of a Maharashtra Bhavan in Kashmir. Shinde met Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha in Srinagar.

Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister Maharashtra met JK LG Manoj Sinha and sought a piece of land for a Bhavan in Kashmir. They met in Srinagar on June 11, 2023.

In a letter he personally handed over to Sinha, Shinde expressed his admiration for the progress witnessed in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370. Acknowledging the region’s transformation under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and local leadership, Shinde believes this evolution presents an ideal opportunity for greater integration between Maharashtra and Kashmir.

MP Dr Shrikant Shinde was present on this occasion when Maharashtra Chief Minister met Sinha at Srinagar Raj Bhawan.

Recognising the immense value of tourism and cultural exchange in strengthening relationships and driving economic growth, Shinde requested the allocation of a land plot in Kashmir to build a Maharashtra Bhavan. This establishment, situated in Srinagar, would serve as a vibrant showcase of Maharashtrian art, culture, and cuisine, providing accommodation and support to Maharashtrians visiting Kashmir.

Moreover, the letter said the Bhavan would function as a dynamic venue for cultural events and conversations, fostering a rich exchange of ideas. Shinde envisioned it as a hub for students, entrepreneurs, and officials from both states to engage, cultivate connections, and collaborate on shared interests.

Shinde assured Sinha that the development of the Maharashtra Bhavan would strictly adhere to eco-friendly guidelines and procedures, respecting the cultural and natural legacy of Kashmir.
