SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said the expansion of railway infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir was giving a major boost to tourism, horticulture, industry and other sectors of the Union Territory’s economy.
Sinha made the remarks while interacting with a delegation of media representatives from Mumbai at Lok Bhavan, Srinagar.
He described the realisation of Kashmir-to-Kanyakumari rail connectivity as a historic milestone in Jammu and Kashmir’s development journey, while highlighting the rapid infrastructure modernisation witnessed across the Union Territory in recent years.
“Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the expansion of railway infrastructure is driving a major boost in the tourism, horticulture, industrial and other economy sectors of the Union Territory. Today, Jammu Kashmir is moving forward with unprecedented confidence towards peace and prosperity,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also stressed the need to strengthen connectivity, particularly in border areas, saying improved infrastructure was essential for local economic prosperity as well as national security.
The Mumbai media delegation, accompanied by Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek and senior railway officials, is on a four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to study the region’s rail network and infrastructure.
