SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will on Friday hold a high-level review meeting in Srinagar to assess the security situation in Kashmir, preparations for the winter season, measures to counter misinformation and the functioning of public grievance redressal mechanisms.
The meeting will be attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary (Home) Chandraker Bharti, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg and Inspector General of Police Kashmir Sujit Kumar, besides Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police from all districts of the Kashmir Division.
Official sources said the Lieutenant Governor is expected to underline the need for coordinated action by the civil administration and police to eliminate residual terrorism and dismantle the networks and support structures sustaining it.
The meeting will review coordination at the district level in anti-terror operations, intelligence sharing and area domination, with a focus on identifying and neutralising remaining militant networks.
Winter preparedness will also figure prominently in the deliberations. District administrations are expected to present their arrangements for maintaining essential services, snow clearance, uninterrupted power supply, healthcare facilities in remote areas and logistical requirements of security forces.
The Lieutenant Governor is expected to direct officers to ensure that basic services remain available during the harsh winter months, particularly in higher reaches where snowfall and difficult weather conditions can disrupt infrastructure and movement.
The meeting will also take up measures to tackle misinformation and misleading narratives that could threaten peace and public order.
District officers are expected to be asked to strengthen efforts to connect young people with skill development programmes and self-employment opportunities, while ensuring the timely and effective disposal of public grievances.
