SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir must shoulder the responsibility of building a terror-free and drug-free Union Territory, while stressing the need for reviving Vedic knowledge and integrating it into the school curriculum.
Addressing the Provincial Arya Mahasammelan at Baba Jitto Auditorium, SKUAST Jammu, LG Sinha said that while most of the population supports peace, “a few elements speak the language of TRF.” He assured that the police and security forces remain committed to ensuring peace and lawful action against such elements.
The LG said that youth must be connected to their cultural roots and exposed to the ideals of Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati. He said, “Revival of Vedic knowledge will offer young minds classics of world literature, values of ancient civilisation, and a treasure of scientific and humanistic knowledge.”
He said India had been a centre of global culture and learning when the Vedas were composed 6,000 years ago and added that even before the European Renaissance, India had made strides in science, mathematics, astronomy, and medicine.
Sinha said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is set to reclaim its position as Vishwa Guru, guiding the world with its soft power and spiritual depth.
Calling upon Arya Samaj institutions, the LG said, “The time has come when India will guide the world towards peace and harmony, and institutions like Arya Samaj must play a major role.” He added that the teachings of Swami Dayananda would help ensure lasting peace and global stability.
The two-day Mahasammelan has been organised by Arya Pratinidhi Sabha Jammu and Kashmir to mark the 200th birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati and the 150th anniversary of Arya Samaj.
On the occasion, the LG felicitated individuals from various fields for their contributions to promoting the teachings of Maharshi Dayananda.
