Life returned to normal in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Saturday after a complete shutdown for six consecutive days to mourn the killing of five civilians and four militants and Kashmir University professor Dr Mohammad Rafi on last Sunday.

Life in Shopian was put on halt after the killing of six civilians and four militants at  Badigam village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on May 6, 2018.

Locals said that early Saturday morning all the business establishments, shops and schools re-opened after six days of the shutdown.

The public and private transport were also back on the roads and there were no restrictions on civilian movement.

Heavy rush of customers was seen in Shopian market while buying different essential commodities.

Shopian remained shut for 51 days this year so far resulting in massive damages to business and education of the children.

Local sources said that there was no major deployment of police and paramilitary troopers in the township.
