SRINAGAR: CRPF personnel on Saturday morning found a live hand grenade in Chawalgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Quoting official sources, news agency KNO reported that the grenade was detected by paramilitary CRPF in the area following which a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was immediately rushed to the spot.
The device was destroyed without causing any damage, they said.
CRPF Assistant Commandant, Gul Junaid Khan, told KNO that grenade was detected by a forces petrol party of 173 Battalion in Chawalgam at morning hours, which was later successfully defused.
“Investigations in this regard are underway,” the officer added.
