The death toll in the cross border firing in Jammu region Sunday afternoon mounted to seven on this side of Line of Control (LoC).

Reports said that a civilian was killed this afternoon when the rival troops of India and Pakistan exchanged shells on the Kashmir border.

On Saturday five persons were killed and several others injured in the on-going ceasefire violations while Pakistan claimed that two civilians were killed on its side in other Kashmir.

Early Sunday morning a woman succumbed to her injuries. Shelling took place in Poonch and Rajouri districts today.

“Two civilians were killed and five others injured in unprovoked ceasefire violation by the Pakistan Army on the LoC in Poonch,” defence sources were quoted as having said.

Meanwhile, India registered her protest with Pakistan High Commissioner based in New Delhi.

In this case, on Sunday, the Ministry of External Affairs is reported to have summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit to lodge protest over continuous “ceasefire violations” at International Border and the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
