LoC Flare Up: Three Civilians Killed in Poonch

SRINAGAR

On August 15 function, three civilians were killed in cross border firing in Jammu division.

“Three civilians have been killed and 20 others injured in Pakistani shelling in Mendhar sector,” Jammu Divisional Commissioner Pawan Kotwal was quoted as having said.

The divisional administration rushed helicopters to the area to shift the injured civilians to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu city where all emergency staff has been alerted to receive the injured civilians.

On August 14, Pakistan had alleged that Indian forces on border in Jammu had killed one woman in Sialkote area.

Military spokesperson Colonel Manish Mehta said that the Indian Army “retaliated effectively” at all these places.

Pakistan allegedly “resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing” at Indian positions at 7.30 am in Poonch district, the spokesperson said.
