Er Rasheed in Keran on May 21, 2016

Coming down heavily on state and Union Governments, Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) chief and MLA Langate Er Rasheed Saturday demanded issuing a white paper on the funds utilised by successive governments and miseries faced by inhabitants living near LoC during last 30 years.

Addressing a gathering at Keran, Rasheed said, “government should come out with a answer why should not people of Keran, Tanghdar, Nowgam, Gurez, Uri, Poonch and Rajouri get special developmental packages and reservation in jobs, as these areas have become a victim of enmity between two countries and the terrible topography and geographical scenario has added further to their  miseries.”

An AIP statement said that the program was sponsored by an NGO: ‘Orphans in Need’.

“The least government can do is to provide five-marla plots to the remotest and cut off villages of these areas in nearby towns and other places. If government has been providing unlimited packages and other monetary benefits to self-styled Kashmiri Hindu migrants what is the crime of those living on LoC that they have been deprived of roads, tele-communication, medical facilities, education and every other basic amenity of life,” Rasheed asked.

“The civil administration at district and divisional levels and those running the state by their choice from civil secretariat should feel ashamed, as they have not been able to address even their pity problems.”

The Langate lawmaker added that while people on the other side of LoC in Tanghdar and Keran are getting best civic facilities, as is so clear after observing from this side of LoC, “GoI should introspect”.

“Rather than making it a point of ego, GoI must allow these people to get health services, edible commodities and other emergency services from other side of LoC till Kashmir issue is resolved,” he said.
