Martryrs Graveyard Eidgha on May 21, 2016
Authorities placed curfew like restrictions in and around Eidgah and Martyrs graveyard on May 21, 2106.

Strongly condemning ban on Eidgah Chalo program, house imprisonment of Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Peer Saifullah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Mehraj-ud-din and Mohammad Ashraf Laya, Chairperson All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani Saturday said that banning of political programs and arrest of leaders “is an open state terrorism”.

Geelani said, “imposing curfew in Srinagar city on the death anniversaries of Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq, Khawja Abdul Gani Lone and the Hawal Martyrs is the frustration and acceptance of defeat by the government.”

In a statement issued this evening, the ailing Hurriyat leader said, “Kashmir is a police state where government is ruling the people on the gun point. The freedom of expression is already banned here and now Ms Mehbooba Mufti can go to any extent to appease the communal forces of India.”

“India is using every oppressive and imperialistic measure to suppress the peaceful and genuine voices of the people of Jammu & Kashmir so that this country can continue its forced and illegal military occupation of this state. The Indian imperialism is at war with the unarmed and peace loving people of Kashmir and the local pro-Indian politicians draw huge salaries for advocating this forced occupation in here. The conspiracies and the wicked policies which the India and the pro-Indian politicians are playing in Jammu & Kashmir can anytime trigger a wild storm here and the people of Kashmir will never allow India to succeed in its evil designs,” the octogenarian leader added.

Geelani, who is under house arrest, said, “Jammu & Kashmir is not any legal part of India so India should accept this fact and allow the people of this land to decide their future in a peaceful and friendly atmosphere this is the most favourable and acceptable decision to this long pending dispute.”
