SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Thursday questioned the Omar Abdullah-led Government over its commitments on free electricity and LPG cylinders, while also raising concerns over the proposed Cabinet reshuffle.
Speaking to reporters, Sharma alleged that the Government had not implemented its earlier commitment to provide 200 units of free electricity.
He also questioned the announcement of six free LPG cylinders, asking how the latest commitment would be implemented when, according to him, previous assurances had not been fulfilled.
Sharma said people were continuing to raise concerns over LPG supplies and the demands of National Health Mission employees, and alleged that the Government had failed to adequately address them.
Asked whether the Omar Abdullah Government had failed to resolve public issues, the Leader of Opposition criticised the Chief Minister’s political leadership.
On the proposed Cabinet reshuffle, Sharma said the matter had been under discussion for nearly two years but had yet to materialise. He alleged that the Government lacked the political will to carry out the exercise.
Sharma further claimed that a Cabinet reshuffle could result in a political crisis for the Government as well as the ruling party.
His remarks came during the ongoing Assembly session, where members have raised issues relating to public welfare, governance and the implementation of Government commitments.
The allegations concerning the Government’s performance and the possible consequences of a Cabinet reshuffle were made by Sharma in his capacity as Leader of Opposition and represent his political assessment.
