SRINAGAR: Police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have arrested eight tourist guides for allegedly accosting, harassing and obstructing tourists and passengers in Tangmarg, officials said.
The arrested persons are being produced before the Judicial Magistrate for further legal action, police said.
Baramulla Police said it would not tolerate harassment, intimidation or unnecessary approaches towards tourists and warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in such conduct.
The police said the action was intended to ensure that visitors travelling to Tangmarg and Gulmarg can move freely and enjoy their stay without harassment, pressure or inconvenience.
Tourists have been advised to report any instances of harassment or overcharging immediately. Police said the safety, dignity and hassle-free movement of visitors remain a priority.
