Srinagar

Over a dozen villages in this border town of Uri have decried the failure of Power Development Department (PDD) to address low voltage problem in the area.   Locals said that they are suffering a lot due to low voltage problem. “A 2.5 MVA transformer installed at Mohra grid station got a technical snag on the second Eid and subsequently it was sent for the repairing. Since then it has not been installed back,” said a delegation of locals from Lagama, Uri.

“The PDD officials have now installed an alternate transformer but that has not the capability to handle the electricity load of our villages thus it only causes low voltage problem,” they said.

“Our homes reel under complete darkness once the dusk fall,” they said adding “The studies of the students is getting affected as the electricity situation in Uri villages is very poor”

The areas of this town that are facing the low voltage problem include Mohra, Dawaran, Paranpillan, Chollan, Dani, Bandi, Lagama and others.

Incharge Chief Engineer PDD Kashmir, Hashmat Qazi said that he is aware of the matter: “The repaired transformer will be dispatched back to Uri next week,” he assured. (CNS)
