Srinagar

Taking immediate cognizance of a complaint from protesting traders, police on Friday removed chowki officer Baba Reshi. The immediate action was hailed by protesting traders who were accusing chowki officer of harassment.

Reports said that traders at Baba Reshi Shrine in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district had decided to go for an indefinite strike after they were allegedly being harassed by in charge police post Baba Reshi. The strike had affected the visitors mostly tourists.

“We had observed strike against the police officer as he was harassing us on one or the other pretext,” said a trader.

SSP Baramulla Mir Imtiyaz Hussain visited Baba Reshi and held a meeting with traders. “The matter was resolved amicably. The chowki officer was shifted on the request of traders who resumed their work,” SSP told CNS.
