SRINAGAR: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has revised the inter-refill booking interval for domestic LPG consumers, reducing the gap for rural consumers from 45 days to 25 days and making the 25-day interval uniform across urban and rural areas.
The decision has been taken in view of the improved LPG supply position and a considerable reduction in refill backlogs compared with the situation prevailing when temporary demand-management measures were introduced.
In a communication dated September 7 to the chairmen and managing directors of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), the Ministry said the revised 25-day inter-refill booking interval would take immediate effect.
The Ministry had prescribed a 25-day booking interval for urban consumers and 45 days for rural consumers in March 2026 as a temporary demand-management measure following the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East in February.
With the supply situation now improving, the Ministry said it had decided to rationalise the existing booking interval and prescribe a uniform 25-day gap for all domestic LPG consumers, including those in rural areas.
The oil marketing companies have been advised to take necessary action to implement the revised interval with immediate effect.
