Jammu Kashmir Bank Warns Customers Against Fake Debit Messages Seeking ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ Replies

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Bank has cautioned customers against cyber fraudsters sending fake messages claiming that money has been debited from their bank accounts and asking them to reply “YES” or “NO” to confirm the transaction.

In a cyber fraud alert, the bank advised customers not to respond to such suspicious messages and warned them against trusting messages from unknown WhatsApp numbers claiming to represent the bank.

The bank urged customers to verify the source of any such message and check transactions only through its official mobile application, internet banking services or customer care channels.

“Banks do not ask customers to confirm transactions by replying ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ on WhatsApp,” the bank said, advising customers to contact their bank only through official helpline numbers.

JK Bank asked customers to exercise caution before responding to suspicious communications and to verify information before taking any action.

The bank’s advisory urged customers to “think before you respond” and “verify before you act” to avoid falling victim to cyber fraud.
