Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress President Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Tuesday cast his vote in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections at a booth in Omoh Verinag area in Dooru constituency of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Mir is the candidate for Anantnag  Lok Sabha seat.

Reports said that Mir arrived at the polling station set up in Govt High School, located in the Omoh area of Verinag, in the morning and exercised his democratic right.

An official said that 4.2 percent votes have been polled till 10 am on Tuesday in Anantnag Lok Sabha seat.

In main town Anantnag, 989 votes were cast  (1.1%), the Dooru town registered 4699 votes (6.0%), 5738 (6.1%) votes were cast in Kokernag, Shangus registered 4228 (4.8%) votes, 613 (0.7%) votes were cast in Shangus and Pahalgam was at 6031 (7.0%). The overall percentage in the district till 10:00 am was 4.2 per cent.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed across the valley following a Joint Resistance Leadership JRL call against the “ill-treatment meted out to JKLF chief Mohammad Yasin Malik who is lodged at Tihar jail in Delhi.
