Taking serious notice of the public complaints about a missionary school in Tangmarg namely “Rahat Ghar” and immoral activities in the newly constructed unregistered guest houses on Srinagar Gulmarg road from Magam to Tangmarg, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (G) Monday cautioned that the Kashmiri society is the century old advocate of the high moral values and the people of this region will never tolerate the ‘open trade’ of immorality and they will resist it tooth and nail.
“All the immoral activities at the health resorts of Kashmir including Tangmarg are going on under the ‘patronage of government and police’ and every time they provide protection to those involved in these immoral activities instead of acting against them,” the Hurriyat (G) statement alleged.
“A delegation of respectable people from Tangmarg met Geelani sahib and revealed some trembling facts about that area. According to the delegation a “Rahat Ghar” named school is running in the area where not only some suspicious activities are going on but they have also illegally occupied a large chunk of forest land and government is silent over this issue. If any local raises his voice against it, he is harassed and threatened in different ways,” the statement said and added, “the delegation also complained that from Magam to Tangmarg on the Srinagar-Gulmarg road, many new guest houses and show rooms have been constructed and maximum of them are used as the hubs of immoral activities.”
“All these activities are going on under the nose of police but nothing concrete has been done in this regard so far. The delegation was assured that Hurriyat Conference will look into the matter and will launch a secret survey in this regard. If need arises, the appropriate action will be taken in this regard,” it further said.
“Geelani encouraged them and said that to raise voice against the immoral and illegal activities in the society is the religious duty of every responsible citizen.”
