SRINAGAR: The UT administration has said that it has received the inquiry report of the Hyderpora ‘encounter’. The report has been forwarded to the Judicial Magistrate.
The government said that district magistrate has been advised to send the report to the Judicial Magistrate under section 190 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, as mandated under law.
“An inquiry to ascertain the facts and circumstances and the cause of death regarding the firing incident at Hyderpora, Srinagar during the intervening November 15 .11.2001 and 16.11.2021 was ordered to be conducted by the Addl. District Magistrate, Srinagar,” the statement said.
“The inquiry report has been received by the Government and the District Magistrate has been advised to send the report to the Judicial Magistrate having jurisdiction under section 190 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, as mandated under law,” the statement read.
Four people were killed in Hyderpora area on Srinagar outskirts by in an ‘encounter’. The families of the people killed had contested the police version, alleging that the people killed were innocent. An inquiry had been initiated by the government after the family had lodged strong protest against their killing.
