Army on Tuesday claimed that they have foiled a major attempt of infiltration resulting into death of five militants.

As per a statement Army spokesman has said, “Army troops deployed on the Line of Control in the Keran Sector of Kupwara foiled a major attempt of infiltration, resulting into killing of five terrorists.”

“Based on specific information from intelligence agencies regarding likelihood of terrorists attempting infiltration in Keran Sector of the frontline Division of North Kashmir, vigilant troops detected eight to nine militants moving in the forest area about 500 meters on own side of the Line of Control. The militants were immediately engaged by firing from the post located along the fence.  The fire was very effective and resulted in the elimination of five militants, while the remaining flew towards the Line of Control under the cover of thick foliage,” said spokesman.

“Till receipt of the last information, the operations were in progress and some war like stores may be recovered from the sight. Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, Chinar Corps Commander, commended the troops for their dedication and high degree of alertness.”
