Track-II diplomat and chairman Kashmir Committee Ram Jethmalani Saturday claimed that majority of the separatist leaders want to be with India and that there are a few pro-Pakistani among them.

Addressing press conference here, Jatmalani said he was in touch with the pro-freedom camp and that “all of them are not the agents of Pakistan.” “They all are not Pakistan agents. It is possible that at one time they were pro-Pakistan, but I am glad to tell you that majority of them want to be with India,”

He also termed Musharaf’s four point formula ‘fantastic solution’, advocating that it must be the basis for the permanent solution of Kashmir issue.

Jethmalani stated that the formula was the viable solution of the vexed Kashmir issue and the document advocated sternly for the secular democracy on both the sides of the divided Kashmir.

The 92-year-old Supreme Court lawyer who was also a BJP MP remarked that the document should be the basis for a permanent solution to the Kashmir issue and that Musharraf’s efforts were “frustrated” by India and not by the Pakistan.

“I have been working for Kashmir for a long time and Musharraf knew. He sent his proposal to me through a common friend. I made some changes to the document as part of the proposals on behalf of the Kashmir Committee which Musharraf accepted. The whole purpose of the document is that there should be a secular democracy on both sides,” Jetmalani said.

Over the killing of two youth by Army in Chattergam, Jethmalani said the Army men involved in the incident should be dealt with according to law.

“They should be hanged if they had done it intentionally. They must be awarded severe punishment,” he said, adding that the incident should be thoroughly probed before any conclusion over the issue is drawn.  He also stated that he is ready to take the case of curbs over separatists to the Supreme Court, provided the pro-freedom camp gives his ‘good evidence’ over the restrictions imposed upon them.
