A day after returning from Pakistan, JKLF chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik on Sunday was detained at Srinagar airport and later put under house arrest in his residence at Maisuma.

Malik, is under attack for meeting Jamat-u-Dawa chief Hafeez Saeed during his private visit to Pakistan.

When malik arrived at Srinagar airport he was detained by police and taken to Maisuma in a police van. Dozens of Mailk’s supporters remained waiting for him on the airport gate.

“We were waiting for him but he was taken out from the technical airport in a police van,” a JKLF spokesman informed Kashmir Life. He added that later a large contingent was deployed outside his house.

On Saturday, a group of Shiv Sainik activists tried to hit him but the attempt was foiled by the police personnel who had anticipated trouble upon his arrival.

Asked what could be his stand in case he was questioned or detained by police, Malik shot back “let me rot in jail”.

Pertinently ailing Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani and Hurriyat (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq have already been put under house arrest in their respective residential houses. Both the leaders earlier faced restrictions in New Delhi after Afzal Guru was hanged.
