Man Arrested For Allegedly Vandalising Mosque In J&K

   

SRINAGAR: A man was arrested for allegedly vandalising a mosque and assaulting a person on the premises in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, police said.

The accused has been identified as Pyar Singh, son of Pritam Singh, a resident of Patian in Thuroo tehsil of Reasi district, they said.

Police said the accused was arrested in connection with the Sukhcha Masjid incident after a case was registered at Police Station Arnas under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The case was registered under Sections 331(6), 352, 115(2), 298 and 351(2) of the BNS, they added.

Following the arrest, police interacted with locals and assured them that legal action had been initiated in the matter.

They appealed to people to maintain peace and communal harmony and avoid paying heed to rumours or misinformation.

Police said any attempt to disturb public order or communal harmony would be dealt with strictly in accordance with law
