SRINAGAR: A man was injured after being mauled by a bear in the Gulshanpora area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.
The injured man was identified as Muhammad Anwar, a resident of Gulshanpora.
Anwar was taken for medical treatment following the attack and was subsequently referred to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Tral, where he received further care.
Local residents said wild animals had been spotted in the area previously and alleged that the Wildlife Department had been informed about their movement.
The residents expressed concern over the safety of people and livestock and urged the authorities to take necessary measures to prevent further wildlife attacks.
