SRINAGAR: Police in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday arrested an absconder who had been evading arrest for 16 years, officials said.
The accused, identified as Abdul Majeed Dar alias Kawa, son of Gh Mohammad Dar and a resident of Mujgund, Srinagar, was apprehended by a police team from Sumbal police station.
He was wanted in connection with FIR No. 84/2010, registered at Police Station Sumbal under Sections 420, 468, 471 and 109 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC). He had been absconding since 2010.
Police said the arrest was part of their continued efforts to trace absconders and bring those evading legal proceedings to justice.
