SRINAGAR: A helicopter carrying six people crashed near Chayee village, close to Joshimath in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, while flying from Badrinath to Dehradun, media reports said on Friday.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed the crash in a post on X, saying a joint rescue operation had been launched by the district administration, disaster management department and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
The helicopter, reportedly operated by Charlie X-ray Company, had earlier gone missing near Hathi Parvat, following which authorities deployed two other helicopters to search for the aircraft.
Dhami said he was personally monitoring the situation and that instructions had been issued to airlift seriously injured people to advanced medical facilities for treatment.
There was no immediate information about the condition of those on board.
