A Bandipora  court  today granted bail to the detained senior separatist and Muslim League leader Masrat Alam Bhat pertaining  to his involvement  in a case registered by Police in 2009.

According to a statement issued by Muslim League, a spokesman of the party has said that Bhat has been detained in a ‘fabricated’ matter which has no grounds under law. “Bhat was lodged in Baramulla sub jail and was shifted to Bandipora where he was produced before a court to face a case against him registered under FIR NO 220/09 under section 13 ULD.  Today the court however accepted his bail plea and granted him bail,” the Muslim League added.

Meanwhile the party General Secretary Abdul Ahad Parra has said that case in which Bhat has been granted bail was registered in 2009 when the accused was already under going detention in Rajouri Jail. “The government is trying to extend his detention period by simple manipulations. It is only because the government is not able to face Bhat Sahib on Political Grounds.”
