Srinagar
Authorities on Friday late afternoon released senior resistance leader and Muslim League chairperson Masarat Alam Bhat from Kotbalwal jail, sources said.
However, he was immediately rearrested by a police party and taken to some unknown location.
A local court in Srinagar last week quashed Alam’s 35th draconian Public Safety Act and directed the authorities to release him immediately.
Sources said that the quash order copy was today produced to the jail authorities who released him.
Muslim League sources told Kashmir Life that immediately after Alam’s release, an unknown police party rearrested Alam outside the Kotbalwal jail and drove him to an unknown location.
