Two residential houses and four shops were gutted in a fire incident on Saturday at Kahara in Gandoh subdivision of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reports said that the devastating fire broke out on Saturday morning at 4:30 am and brought down two residential houses-cum-shopping-complexes and four shops at the main market Kahara into flames resulting in the damage of property worth lacks of rupees.
Soon after the incident, the police and the fireman along with locals brought the fire under control but couldn’t save the buildings.
They said that the buildings that caught fire belonged to Abdul Qayoom Butt and Showkat Khan of Kahara.
Meanwhile, the locals gathered and protested over the repeated fire incidents in the area and blocked the Thatri-Gandoh road demanding a permanent fire tender office at Kahara.
According to the reports, three devastating fire incidents have taken place in the area for last one year in the Kahara market.
