Terming the prevailing escalation of tensions at LoC between India and Pakistan as a cause of extreme concern, APHC (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday stressed upon the political leadership of both countries to shun the confrontational path and instead take serious steps to solve Kashmir dispute including all other issues existing between the two nations.

Addressing a Friday gathering at historic Jamia Masjid, Mirwaiz stated that calling off Foreign Secretary Level talks by India has inflicted negative impact on their relations and brought both the nuclear powers India and Pakistan on the verge of war.

“Unlike 1965 and 1971, Mirwaiz stated that both countries possess Nuclear weapons and any military confrontation would lead to massive destruction in India and Pakistan including whole of the region,” a statement issued by the amalgam said on Friday evening.

Appealing India to change its policy of confrontation, Mirwaiz said that there was no military solution to Kashmir Dispute, neither can be war imposed to solve the vexed dispute.

“Only serious, meaningful and result oriented  dialogue between three stake holders including Kashmiris, India and Pakistan can find the solution of Kashmir issue,” Mirwaiz said.

Stressing the escalation of tension between the two nations has direct bearing on Kashmiris living across the man-made boundary, Mirwaiz stated that line drawn in blood has divided Kashmiris facing immense problems.

Asserting that Kashmir issue should be seen through the prism of humanity, Mirwaiz said, “Meaningful talks between the two nations were the only way to solve the lingering Kashmir issue.”

He stated that entire world is seeing Kashmir through an eye of concern and clouds of war were hovering over Kashmir.

Mirwaiz stated that Kashmiris have always wanted friendly relations between the two nations, adding, government cannot suppress Kashmiris and the sentiment of freedom can’t be weakened by force or military suppression, the statement said.
