Srinagar

The print editions of Srinagar-based newspapers were not available on
Monday for the second consecutive day as authorities have prohibited
their publication. Though, their online editions are available.

After cable TV operations particularly the news channels and mobile
internet service was shut on Saturday, police prohibited publication
of local newspapers.

Police has reportedly asked respective managements not to publish the newspapers.

The Editors Guild of India has expressed concern over the restrictions on newspapers in Srinagar for the past two days.

“The Guild calls upon the government of Jammu and Kashmir to end all such
restrictions, so that newspapers in the state can work without any
fetters,” a statement issued from the guild said.

More than 200 news papers are published from Srinagar.
