Protests erupted on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Banihal after a women died due to medical “negligence”.

Scores of people took to the streets shouting slogans and demonstrated against the staff of emergency hospital Banihal.

The people took to the streets and blocked the Srinagar – Jammu national highway.

The protesters alleged that the pregnant women namely Zubaida Begum (30) could have been saved if the gynaecologist posted there, had attended the deceased on time but till she breathed her last they paid no attention, said Mushtaq Ahmad Magray husband of the deceased.

The relatives demanded stern action against the erring staff of the Emergency Hospital Banihal. Meanwhile, the police and officials of the district reached the spot to pacify the people.

Meanwhile, the gynaecologist has been placed under suspension.

As per an order issued by CMO Ramban, Dr Rubeena, Medical Officer CHC Banihal has been suspended

The order said that an enquiry will be completed in this regard within five days.
