Congress leader and former minister Nawang Rigzin Jora told Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti that her meeting with Zaira Wasim is an eye-opener. Jora was speaking on grants of the departments that CM Mehbooba holds as Chief Minister.

“It was a very good initiative that you invited that Dagal girl who performed a very impressive acting in the film that I watched,” Jora said. “But what happened to her after her meeting with you is an eye opener.”

Jora said the people in Kashmir were not unhappy with the actress’s performance and her success. “They were angry only because she met you,” Jora insisted. “This must be the biggest eye-opener for you.”

Attacking the ruling coalition for not delivering on the promises it made, Jora said the party changed on key issues. “Omar Abdullah had the conviction of admitting what happened in 2010 but you said the dead had not come to fetch toffees and milk but had come to attack,” Jora said. “You literally converted them into militants.”

Jora told the Chief Minister that after Mufti M Sayeed’s demise, she did not take over for two months and indicated that the party would like to review the situation because “Mufti Sahab was humiliated and was kept running from pillar to post” for resources. “As Modi proved a hard nut to crack, you simply when, met him and took over on the same old salary package,” Jora said.

Congress from Ladakh cautioned the ruling party that their ally has not slept over the Article 370. Jitander Singh is on record to have said that the party wishes not to rake up the issue in this term but will revive it later. He said the party’s promise on AFSPA and Disturbed Areas Act has not delivered. He said a lot of promises on starting various initiatives at ground zero have not taken off.

In the last phase of discussing grants, the state legislative assembly is currently discussing the departments held by Chief Minister. The process will conclude on Monday when she winds up the debate and response to the intense debate.
