KL Report

Srinagar

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti Saturday visited the residence of Parvez Rasool at Bijbehara to offer personal compliments to Kashmir’s star cricketer for getting selected in Team India. Mehbooba was accompanied by PDP Chief Spokesman Naeem Akhtar.

Mehbooba while felicitating Parvez’s parents for the great accomplishment by their son, said that Parvez has shown the way for J&K’s talented youth that they can make their mark, in whatever field, if given the chance to do so. She said Parvez’s commendable achievement is highly laudable that he stood out in the highly competitive game of cricket despite all odds and inspite of the fact that he comes from a humble background.

Mehbooba wished a long and distinguished career for Parvez and good luck for his upcoming Zimbabwe tour.

The PDP president said that despite huge money available for promotion of sports especially cricket, J&K government has failed to tap the talent of the local youth as the premiere sports body of the state, J&K Cricket Association, is not only corruption-ridden  but has been almost made defunct.
