The setting up of a dedicated centre for women entrepreneurship is in concurrence with the commitment made by the Chief Minister earlier that there should be separate centres for women entrepreneurship both in Jammu and Srinagar. In Jammu, the centre is already functioning after it was inaugurated by the Minister for Industries & Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga in May last year at Jammu Haat. The CWE Srinagar shall function as one of the program verticals of Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) and provide a conducive environment to the women entrepreneurs.

Chief Minister after e-inaugurating the CWE Srinagar said entrepreneurship amongst women, improves the wealth of the nation in general and of the family in particular. “Women today are more willing to take up activities that were once considered the domain of men, and have proved that they are second to none with respect to contribution to the growth of economy,” she said adding, the centre shall, from a broader perspective, significantly contribute towards women empowerment and financial independence of women in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

The Chief Minister assured all possible support to the prospective women entrepreneurs and said they (women entrepreneurs) will be given priority for establishing business units in the state so that they would contribute to the development of Jammu and Kashmir.
