In an Independence Day message, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president said the occasion should serve as a reminder of the promises enshrined in the Constitution.

“Independence is not merely the freedom to celebrate a day, it is the freedom to speak, to dissent, to dream and to live with dignity,” Mufti said.

She called upon people to reaffirm their commitment to the constitutional values and ensure that freedom becomes meaningful for every citizen.

“On this Independence Day, let us reclaim the promise of our Constitution and make freedom meaningful for every Indian,” she said, extending her greetings on the occasion.
