SRINAGAR: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has praised Iran’s response in the ongoing confrontation with the United States and Israel, saying the country has displayed remarkable resilience against powerful global adversaries.
“I salute the people of Iran for the sentiment with which they fought and brought the US and Israel to their knees,” Mufti said on Tuesday, following a dramatic escalation in the Middle East that has raised alarm internationally.
Her remarks came in the wake of Iran’s missile strike on the US Al Udeid military base in Qatar, a retaliatory move after American airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Taking a direct swipe at former US President Donald Trump, Mufti added, “Since Trump has come to power, he has belittled the office of the US President,” implying that his policies and rhetoric have contributed to the current tensions.
Iran has defended its retaliatory strike as proportionate and carefully targeted, while the US has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding regional allies.
