SRINAGAR: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has appealed to the Union Government to take urgent steps for the safe return of Indian students stranded in Iran amid the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.

Taking to the social media platform ‘X’, Mehbooba said families of the stranded students are growing increasingly anxious. “I earnestly urge the Ministry of External Affairs to intervene and take immediate steps to ensure the safe return of their loved ones,” she posted.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday said the Indian Embassy in Tehran is actively monitoring the security situation and is in constant touch with the students.
The Embassy is facilitating relocation to safer locations within Iran and exploring all feasible options, including evacuation, to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian students.
