The primary aim of the drive was to enhance road safety and ensure strict compliance with transport norms. The operation, led by ARTO Anantnag, resulted in the issuance of nearly 65 challans.

Officials said that, in addition to enforcement, the squad also focused on raising public awareness about the risks of overloading, especially in school transport, which poses significant safety hazards.

“The Motor Vehicles Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of road users. These enforcement drives will be conducted regularly to curb reckless practices and maintain road discipline,” an official spokesperson said.

The department has urged vehicle owners and drivers to follow traffic laws strictly and avoid overloading, warning that repeat offenders will face stringent penalties. (JKNS)
